What does the Bible say about the state of believers after death?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible teaches that believers enter immediately into heaven after death, experiencing eternal bliss in the presence of God.

When believers die, their bodies are laid to rest in the grave, but their spirits immediately return to God, entering into a state of eternal blessedness. This is supported by Ecclesiastes 12:7, which states, 'Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was, and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.' The Scriptures assure us that upon death, believers are carried into heavenly glory, as depicted in Luke 16:22 where the angels carried Lazarus into Abraham's bosom.
