What does the Bible say about the state of mankind?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible describes mankind as sinful and rebellious against God, as seen in Isaiah 1:2-4.

The Bible depicts the state of mankind as deeply flawed and sinful. Isaiah 1:2-4 presents God's lamentation, stating, 'I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.' This illustrates the nature of humanity as rebellious and ungrateful, where even the dumb ox knows its owner, but God's people do not acknowledge Him. In Romans 1:19-22, Paul further explains that although God’s attributes are evident through creation, mankind suppresses this truth in unrighteousness. This indicates a universal condition of depravity – from the sole of the foot to the crown of the head, there are wounds and putrefying sores, signifying the pervasive corruption in human nature.
