What does the Bible say about the suffering of Job?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible presents Job as a righteous man who suffers greatly, yet remains faithful to God.

The Book of Job describes the profound suffering of a man who is termed 'perfect and upright' and who fears God. Despite his immense loss, including the death of his children and the loss of his wealth, Job does not sin or blame God for his misfortunes (Job 1:1, 1:22). Instead, he acknowledges God's sovereignty, stating, 'The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord' (Job 1:21). Job's response shows us that suffering can exist alongside faithfulness, highlighting the mystery of God's ways and the importance of trusting Him even in the darkest times.
