What does the Bible say about the treasure and the pearl in Matthew 13?

Answered in 1 source

Matthew 13 describes the kingdom of heaven as a hidden treasure and a pearl of great price, symbolizing Christ and His elect people.

In Matthew 13:44-46, Jesus compares the kingdom of heaven to a treasure hidden in a field and to a pearl of great price. The treasure represents God’s elect people, whom He chose for salvation before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4-5). Just as a man joyfully sells all he has to obtain the treasure or the pearl, Christ gave everything, including His life, to redeem His people and purchase the field, which is the world. He gathers His chosen ones from all corners, promising that none shall be lost (Isaiah 43:4).
