What does the Bible say about true and false conversion?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible teaches that true conversion is marked by genuine faith in Christ, while false conversion often involves mere external compliance without true belief.

In Acts 8, we see a clear distinction between true and false conversions through the accounts of Simon Magus and the Ethiopian eunuch. Simon's conversion was marked by an outward display of belief, such as being baptized and following Philip, but ultimately he lacked genuine faith and attempted to buy the power of the Holy Spirit. In contrast, the Ethiopian eunuch, after being preached to by Philip, demonstrated a heartfelt belief in Jesus Christ, leading to his true conversion evidenced by his desire to be baptized. This highlights the importance of not relying on mere experiences or outward signs, but on the integrity of one’s faith in Christ.
