What does the Bible say about true rest in Christ?

Answered in 1 source

True rest is found solely in Christ, as believers cease from their own works and trust in His completed sacrifice.

The Bible teaches that true rest is not merely a physical absence of work but a spiritual state of peace found in Christ. In Hebrews 4, we see that believers are welcomed into God's rest through faith in the finished work of Jesus. Just as God rested after creation, believers rest from their labor of self-justification and self-salvation, finding peace in the assurance that Christ's atonement satisfies God's demands for righteousness. This true rest is not fully realized on Earth but will culminate in eternal rest in glory with Christ.
