What does the Bible say about trusting in Christ versus false hopes?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that anything not rooted in Christ is a false refuge, leading to death and judgment.

Isaiah 28:15 reveals that those who place their hope in anything other than the Lord Jesus Christ are in a covenant with death. The scripture makes clear that reliance on personal righteousness, wealth, or religious works is ultimately futile. Such false trusts lead to spiritual death, as they cannot stand before God in the day of judgment. True hope must be anchored in Christ, who is the only foundation of our righteousness, as affirmed in 1 Corinthians 3:11, where it states, 'For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.' Our only refuge must be the Lord Himself, as only He can save His people from the coming wrath.
