What does the Bible say about turning away wrath?

In Proverbs 29:8, we see that wise men turn away wrath. This turning away of wrath is not accomplished by human effort or ability, but is instead a recognition of our need for God's grace. Wise men, those who are indwelt by the Spirit of Christ, understand that it is Christ who has borne their guilt and turned away God's wrath on their behalf. They know that their only hope is Jesus, who is the wisdom of God, and they trust in His finished work to save them from judgment.
