What does the Bible say about unfinished work in salvation?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible emphasizes that although Christ's work of salvation is finished, believers have much work to do in furthering the gospel.

The concept of unfinished work in salvation is prevalent in scripture, notably illustrated in Joshua 13:1, where God tells Joshua that there remains much land to be possessed. This reflects the reality that while Christ's atoning work is completed, there remains a significant responsibility for believers to engage in sharing the gospel and supporting the salvation of others. Thus, salvation is by grace through faith, but that grace calls for action. In Philippians 2:12-13, we see that believers are to work out their salvation with fear and trembling, acknowledging that it is God who works in them to fulfill His purpose.
