What does the Bible say about using weapons as Christians?

The New Testament does not forbid believers from possessing weapons for protection or military service. However, the directive given by Jesus to Peter, 'Put up thy sword into the sheath,' emphasizes that the battle for the kingdom of God is spiritual, not carnal. Christ's kingdom is established not through might or power, but through the gospel and the work of the Holy Spirit.
