What does the Bible say about where believers go after death?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that believers are immediately in the presence of the Lord after death.

According to scripture, when a believer dies, their soul is separated from the body and they enter into immediate glory with the Lord. This is illustrated in 2 Corinthians 5, where Paul speaks of being 'absent from the body and present with the Lord.' The passage indicates that death for the believer is a brief separation, not a complete disconnection from God. In fact, when Lazarus died, he was taken to be with Jesus, demonstrating that the believer's union with Christ remains intact even after physical death.
