What does the Bible say about whether a believer can be lost?

The Bible makes it abundantly clear that genuine believers are eternally secure in their salvation. In John 10:28-29, the Lord Jesus states, 'I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.' This assertion of eternal security is foundational in understanding our relationship with Christ. The passage in Hebrews 6:4-6 may seem alarming at first glance, but properly understood, it reveals that those who have truly experienced salvation—who have been enlightened and partakers of the Holy Spirit—cannot fall away from their faith.
