What does the Bible say about who the gospel is for?

Answered in 2 sources

The gospel is for those who recognize their need for salvation and cannot save themselves.

The Bible presents the gospel as a divine message of salvation intended for those who are ready to perish. It does not encourage self-salvation through works, but rather speaks to individuals who are already condemned and in need of a Savior. The gospel calls upon us to believe in Jesus Christ, the crucified Savior, who provides redemption and forgiveness through His blood.

Furthermore, the Spirit of God uses the gospel to first convince us of our sin, unbelief, and misery. It is through this awakening that we come to recognize our helpless state and our desperate need for a Savior. Once we grasp the reality of our situation, the Spirit reveals the truth of who Jesus is, enabling us to come to Him in faith, receive Him, and believe in His redemptive work on our behalf.
