What does the Bible say about why some won't come to Christ?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible indicates that sinners often refuse to come to Christ because they rely on their own understanding and righteousness rather than acknowledging their need for Him.

In John 5:39, Christ confronts the religious leaders who diligently search the Scriptures but fail to come to Him for eternal life. They mistakenly believe that their knowledge and adherence to the law provide them righteousness and acceptance before God. This reliance on their works blinds them to their true need for Christ, who is the only Savior who can meet God's requirements for salvation. The Scriptures testify about Him, but those who trust in their own righteousness will not come to the gracious source of eternal life, which is Jesus Christ alone.
