What does the Bible say about wisdom and fear of God?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, which leads to understanding and faith in Christ.

In scripture, particularly in Proverbs, wisdom is closely associated with the fear of God. Proverbs 9:10 states that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. This fear is not afraid of God's wrath but rather a respectful acknowledgment of His sovereignty and a trust in His mercy. To fear God means to reject pride and works-based righteousness, realizing our complete dependence on Christ for salvation. When we truly fear God, we recognize our need for His grace and wisdom, which are ultimately found in the person of Jesus Christ.
