What does the Bible say about works and faith?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible teaches that while our works evidence our faith, they cannot validate it as a means of salvation.

The Scriptures indicate a clear distinction between faith and works. In the New Testament, particularly in Ephesians 2:8-10, we see that salvation is by grace through faith and not from our works, which indeed are important, as we were created for good works. However, these works cannot be the basis of our assurance of salvation; instead, they evidence the genuine faith within us. Ultimately, it is faith that connects us to Christ, who is the source of our salvation, while our works are the fruit that demonstrate our faith in action.
