What does the Bible teach about government and respect for authority?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches respect for government and authority as instituted by God.

According to Romans 13:1, all authority comes from God, and therefore, believers are encouraged to respect those in authority. This respect does not mean that Christians must agree with every decision or action of their leaders; rather, it reflects a submission to the order that God has established. In the sermon, it is highlighted that while there may be abuses of power, maintaining respect for governing institutions is essential. Such respect is a testimony to God's order and a means to honor Him in our conduct as believers.
