What does the Bible teach about spiritual death and sin?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that through Adam's sin, all humanity is plunged into spiritual death, and we are born in a state of depravity.

According to Scripture, spiritual death entered the world through Adam's disobedience, resulting in all mankind inheriting a corrupt nature. This fundamental condition renders us unable to attain righteousness on our own. Paul articulates this reality in Romans 5:12, emphasizing that through one man's sin, death reigns over all because all have sinned. Just as Elimelech and his sons faced death as a result of their rebellion, humanity faces spiritual death due to the original sin. The good news, however, is that by grace, God provided a remedy in Christ, whose redemption overcomes our dead state, leading us to eternal life.
