What does the Bible teach about spiritual union with Christ?

Answered in 1 source

The believer is united with Christ in a vital way that ensures eternal life.

Scripture teaches that believers share a unique and profound union with Christ. In John 6:56, Jesus indicates that those who partake in Him dwell in Him and He in them. This union signifies that believers are not merely followers of Christ but are fundamentally linked to Him in such a way that His life becomes their life. This is echoed in the vine and branches analogy in John 15, where Jesus explains that as the branch must remain in the vine to bear fruit, so must believers remain in Him. This union gives life and sustenance to the believer, allowing them to reflect Christ’s character and righteousness. Therefore, salvation cannot be conceived apart from this vital union, as it is through this relationship that believers receive life and nourishment for their souls.
