What does the Bible teach about the prosperity of the wicked?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that the prosperity of the wicked is temporary and ultimately leads to their downfall.

In Psalm 73, the Psalmist grapples with the troubling sight of the wicked prospering while the righteous suffer. He observes their seemingly carefree lives in verses 4-7 and stumbles into the temptation to question God’s justice. However, the Psalmist realizes that their prosperity is fleeting and superficial. God has set them in 'slippery places' and will bring them into destruction (verses 18-19). This teaches us that the material wealth and comfort of the ungodly do not equate to divine favor but instead highlight the transient nature of worldly success compared to eternal realities.
