What does the Bible teach about the role of the church in spiritual growth?

Answered in 1 source

The church plays a vital role in nurturing believers' faith and building them up in Christ.

The church is integral in the spiritual growth of believers, serving as a nurturing ground for their faith. In 1 Thessalonians 5:11, Paul encourages believers to 'comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.' This edification comes through the preaching of the gospel and the shared life of the church community. Furthermore, as highlighted in 2 Peter 3:18, we are called to 'grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.' The church facilitates this growth by providing a platform for collective worship, prayer, and teaching, helping individuals deepen their understanding of the faith and encouraging mutual support in their walk with Christ.
