What does the opposition faced by Paul and Barnabas teach us about the gospel?

Answered in 1 source

The opposition illustrates that the gospel will face resistance, but God's purposes will prevail.

As Paul and Barnabas began their mission to spread the gospel, they faced immediate opposition from Elimas the sorcerer. This conflict highlights a spiritual reality that as the gospel progresses, it inevitably encounters resistance from spiritual forces opposing God's work. Nevertheless, the miraculous confrontation that Paul had with Elimas demonstrates God’s authority over darkness and affirms that the light of the gospel overcomes opposition. Ultimately, the sovereign plan of God ensures that His elect people will hear the gospel, regardless of the challenges that may arise.
