What does the story of Jesus walking on water teach us?

Answered in 1 source

The story illustrates Jesus's divine power over nature and reassures us of His continued presence in our difficulties.

In Mark 6:49-50, Jesus walks on water to reach His disciples amidst their struggle. This miraculous event shows His authority over creation and His ability to intervene in our lives. The disciples, frightened by His appearance, learned that the same Jesus who calmed the storm in another moment was now reassuring them in their fear. This tale reminds us of God's unfailing presence and assurance in our struggles; He may seem distant at times, but He is always watching over us and ready to come to our aid. As believers, we take comfort in knowing that Jesus has overcome the world (John 16:33), and we can find peace in His presence.
