What does the story of Joseph teach us about God's plans?

Answered in 1 source

The story of Joseph illustrates God's sovereign control over our lives and His ability to bring good from evil.

Joseph's narrative exemplifies God's sovereignty in shaping the course of history for His purposes. Despite the grave injustices Joseph faced, such as being sold into slavery and unjustly imprisoned, he ultimately rose to a position of great authority in Egypt. At the climax of the story, Joseph states, 'You meant it for evil, but God meant it for good' (Genesis 50:20). This shows us that God is at work even in the midst of turmoil and misunderstanding. Believers can take comfort in knowing that God orchestrates our lives according to His eternal plan—even when circumstances seem bleak. The overarching message is that all things, even our hardships, work together for good for those who are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). This truth encourages hope and trust in God, knowing He is in control.
