What happens if someone does not have the Holy Spirit?

Answered in 1 source

If someone does not have the Holy Spirit, Scripture states they do not belong to Christ.

Romans 8:9 clearly declares, 'If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.' This point speaks to the dire consequence of being Spirit-less. Without the Holy Spirit, an individual is not just lacking a gift; it signifies that they do not belong to Christ at all. This brings forth a serious existential question for anyone claiming Christianity: they must examine if they possess the Holy Spirit. The absence of the Spirit indicates an unregenerate state, rendering the individual as lost and in dire need of salvation through faith in Jesus. Thus, the necessity of being born of the Spirit is paramount for salvation.
