What happens if we build our hope on anything other than Christ?

Answered in 1 source

Building hope on anything other than Christ leads to a foundation that will ultimately fail.

The risks of building hope on anything other than Christ are clearly outlined in Scripture. Jesus warns in Matthew 7:26-27 that any person who hears His words and does not act upon them is like a foolish builder who constructs a house on sand. When the storms come, that house will fall, and its destruction will be great. This analogy reflects the eternal consequence of placing trust in personal efforts, religious rituals, or feelings rather than in the finished work of Christ. Isaiah 28:17 further emphasizes that the judgment of God will sweep away any refuge that is not built upon His appointed foundation. Therefore, the call is clear to rest solely upon Christ, who is the only solid rock amidst life's trials.
