What happens to our sins according to the doctrine of imputation?

Answered in 1 source

According to imputed righteousness, our sins are not counted against us; God does not impute sin to those who believe.

The doctrine of imputation states that for believers, God does not account sin against them because of the righteousness of Christ that has been legally attributed to them. Romans 4 states that God will not impute sin to those whom He has justified. This means that despite the presence of sin in the believer's life, they are viewed through the lens of Christ's righteousness. Thus, their standing before God is secured, and their sins are covered, freeing them from condemnation and resulting in true blessing in their lives.
