What happens to our souls after we die?

Answered in 1 source

Believers' souls go to be with the Lord in a heavenly dwelling immediately after death.

The Apostle Paul assures us in 2 Corinthians 5:8 that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. This illustrates that upon death, a believer's soul is not left in limbo; rather, it transitions into the presence of Christ. Moreover, in 1 Thessalonians 4:14, we learn that God will bring with Him those who have died in Christ at the second coming, comforting us with the assurance that our existence continues in fellowship with Him from the moment of death until the resurrection.
