What happens to our souls after we die?

Answered in 2 sources

The Bible teaches that the souls of believers go directly into the presence of the Lord after death.

According to Scripture, upon death, the souls of believers enter into the immediate presence of the Lord. In 2 Corinthians 5:8, Paul expresses a desire to be absent from the body and present with the Lord. Unlike the views held by some that suggest a state of unconsciousness or purgatory, the Scriptures assure that believers are fully conscious and alive after death. This ongoing relationship with Christ provides comfort to the faithful, knowing that they have not been abandoned but are welcomed into eternal joy and fellowship with God.
