What happens when believers fall into spiritual stupor?

Answered in 1 source

When believers enter spiritual stupor, they may experience a lack of desire for Christ and an inability to engage spiritually.

Entering spiritual stupor signifies a time when believers may feel disconnected from Christ. The bride in Song of Solomon expresses this when she is aware of her beloved yet cannot rouse herself to respond (Song of Solomon 5:2). This spiritual drowsiness often leads to preoccupation with self and the world, causing a neglect of one's relationship with Christ. However, the promise remains that Christ will not allow His own to remain in this state; He stirs their hearts to long for Him again, leading to a renewed pursuit of communion and fellowship.
