What happens when someone hears the Gospel but does not believe?

Answered in 1 source

Those who hear the Gospel but do not believe currently face no condemnation, but they will ultimately be judged by the very words they rejected.

In John 12:47-48, Christ states that He does not judge those who hear His words and do not believe at the present time. However, He warns that those very words will serve as a basis for judgment in the coming day of reckoning. This indicates that while individuals may enjoy a temporary period free from judgment, the rejection of the truth carries eternal consequences. The seriousness of this rejection underscores the need for urgency in evangelism—those who do not repent and embrace the Gospel will face judgment when confronted with Christ's truth again (Romans 2:16).
