What is a perverted gospel?

Answered in 1 source

A perverted gospel is a message that adds human works to the grace of God in salvation.

A perverted gospel seeks to distort the true message of salvation by incorporating elements of human merit alongside Christ's finished work. In Galatians 1:6-9, Paul explicitly states that any addition to the gospel of grace is a perversion. This can manifest through teachings that suggest salvation is conditional upon human actions, such as keeping the law or participating in rituals. Such a message ultimately undermines the sufficiency of Christ and reduces the good news to a burdensome scheme of works, which the New Testament vehemently condemns. True salvation rests solely on Christ’s atoning sacrifice and the grace of God.
