What is false faith and how can I recognize it?

Answered in 1 source

False faith is an intellectual assent without true trust in Christ, often resulting in unchallenged continuation in sin.

False faith can take various forms, one of which may simply involve acknowledging the teachings of Scripture without genuine belief or transformative faith. It is not enough to just know about Jesus or profess belief in Him; true faith requires a response of the heart that leads to repentance and faith in Christ's redemptive work. The sermon highlights that many people may claim to have faith simply because they can recite biblical facts or have had an emotional experience, yet their lives do not reflect a real commitment to Christ. False faith is ultimately damning, as it can lead one to rely on superficial understandings of grace rather than the true gospel that demands a personal relationship with Christ. A crucial marker of true faith is a life transformed by Christ, shown through obedience to His Word.
