What is fetching grace?

Answered in 1 source

Fetching grace refers to God's initiative to bring sinners to Himself, regardless of their condition (2 Samuel 9).

Fetching grace illustrates the proactive nature of God's love and mercy in seeking out those who are lost. In the account of Mephibosheth in 2 Samuel 9, David seeks to show kindness to the son of Jonathan, reflecting God's heart towards His people. Just as Ziba was sent to fetch Mephibosheth from a place of exile and inability, we see God's Spirit actively seeking and drawing sinners to the table of His grace. This grace is not dependent on our merit but is based on the covenants established by God's love and faithfulness.
