What is the basis of true assurance?

Answered in 1 source

The basis of true assurance lies in the objective truth of God’s Word and the inner testimony of the Holy Spirit.

True assurance is built on the objective work of Christ, which accomplished salvation for His sheep, as articulated in John 10. Our assurance is also intimately tied to the belief that the Holy Spirit actively works in the life of the believer, confirming their status as children of God. This dual testimony—Scripture and the Spirit—affirms that a believer's confidence is well-founded. We therefore find security not in subjective feelings but in the promises of God, which stand firm irrespective of our circumstances.
