What is the difference between the gospel and church membership?

Answered in 1 source

The gospel is about what Christ has done, while church membership does not guarantee salvation.

Many today confuse church membership with authentic faith, believing that belonging to a church institution is synonymous with being a Christian. However, the gospel is solely about the work of Christ and our personal relationship with Him. Paul emphasizes in Galatians that one is not saved by association with a church but through faith in Christ alone (i.e., John 14:6). While being part of a church is valuable for fellowship and growth, it does not define one's standing before God. True salvation comes through a living, vital union with Christ rather than through ecclesiastical affiliation.
