What is the difference between worldliness and godliness?

Answered in 1 source

Worldliness is an undue attachment to worldly pleasures, while godliness is living for God's glory and will (1 John 2:15-17).

Worldliness and godliness stand in direct opposition to each other. Worldliness refers to an excessive attachment to earthly things and pleasures, often leading to a life that prioritizes self-gratification over obedience to God. In contrast, godliness is characterized by a heart that lives for God's honor and seeks to fulfill His will. As John outlines in his epistle, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and pride of life are all markers of worldliness, whereas godliness involves a life surrendered to God, motivated by love and devotion to Him. Believers are called to live out their faith by glorifying God in all aspects of life, distancing themselves from worldly values.
