What is the distinction between the true God and false gods?

Answered in 1 source

The true God is a just God who saves, while false gods are incapable of offering salvation.

The distinction between the true God and false gods is stark. In Isaiah 45, God repeatedly states that He is the only God and that there is no other beside Him. The core difference lies in the nature of salvation: false gods, which may be crafted by human hands or conceptualized by human understanding, cannot save, as they lack the power and authority to offer true redemption. The true God, however, is characterized as a just God and a Savior, committed to fulfilling the demands of justice while simultaneously offering grace. This is what separates the living God from idols that offer empty promises. Understanding this difference is critical for believers, as it shapes their understanding of who God truly is and the assurance they have in His saving power.
