What is the importance of Christ's sacrificial work for believers?

Answered in 1 source

Christ's sacrificial work is foundational for believers, as it provides full atonement for sin and secures their position before God.

The significance of Christ's sacrificial work cannot be overstated for believers. It is through His death that the penalty for sin is fully satisfied, allowing believers to be justified before God. As indicated in Colossians 2:14, Christ blotted out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us and nailed it to the cross. This means that all charges and condemnations that the law held over our heads were dealt with completely. The believer’s relationship with God is thus established on the grounds of Christ's righteousness and not their own failures. The assurance of salvation comes from the truth that Christ's sacrifice was sufficient, and as Romans 8:1 proclaims, there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
