What is the relationship between faith and hope in Christianity?

Answered in 2 sources

In Christianity, faith is the assurance of things hoped for, while hope looks forward to the fulfillment of God's promises.

Faith and hope are intertwined in the life of a believer. Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as 'the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.' Faith acts as the foundation upon which hope is built; it trusts in God's character and His promises. While faith assures us of the present reality of salvation, hope focuses on future fulfillment—the glorious appearing of our Savior, Jesus Christ (Titus 2:13). Together, they encourage believers to live in light of God’s eternal purposes, assuring us that our struggles are temporary compared to the glory that will be revealed.
