What is the relationship between love and election in theology?

Answered in 1 source

Election is an expression of God's love towards sinners.

The doctrine of election is often misunderstood as exclusionary, but in sovereign grace theology, it represents God's love and mercy towards His chosen people. God elects individuals not based on their merits but out of His divine, unmerited love. As stated in Ephesians 1:4-5, He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, predestining us for adoption as His children. This act of choosing communicates profound love, as it entails God's commitment to save His people from their sins despite their rebellious natures. Election, therefore, should be viewed as the ultimate act of love that reflects God's grace.
