What is the role of authority in child upbringing?

Answered in 1 source

Authority is key in parenting, as it sets boundaries and teaches respect for order and structure.

Authority plays a fundamental role in raising children as it establishes the necessary structure and boundaries within which they can learn and grow. Modern society often undermines authority, but the Scriptures clearly teach that authority originates from God (Romans 13). When parents enforce rules and commands, they reflect God’s authority and help children develop respect for order in all areas of life, whether in the family, schools, or the workplace. Teaching children to respect authority not only benefits their individual character development but also aids in their interaction with others throughout their lives.
