What is the role of Christ in Church unity?

Answered in 1 source

Christ is central to Church unity, as true unity is found in submission to Him as Lord and Savior.

Christ plays a central role in fostering unity within the Church, as true unity is predicated on believers' submission to and understanding of who He is. The unity that believers experience is a reflection of their relationship with Jesus Christ; when believers acknowledge Him as their Lord and Savior, they are naturally drawn together. As highlighted in the sermon, unity is realized when individuals lift their eyes off themselves and focus on Christ's redemptive work. By doing so, they find common ground and purpose, as their individual identities are wrapped up in their identities in Christ. Philippians 2 encourages believers to have the same mind and attitudes as Christ, serving one another in humility and love. Therefore, cultivating a deep, shared faith in Christ is essential for maintaining and experiencing the unity that God intends for His Church.
