What is the role of faith in obtaining salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Faith is the only means by which individuals can receive the free gift of salvation, as it cannot be earned.

Salvation is an entirely free gift that cannot be earned through works or personal merit. Isaiah 55:1-2 invites all who are thirsty to come and receive without money—is a powerful reminder that God’s grace is unmerited. The believer recognizes that he contributes nothing to salvation, his only role being to come by faith, acknowledging his inability and need. Romans 3:24 highlights that we are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, asserting that salvation is dependent on God's mercy alone and our faith in His provision, not on our righteousness.
