What is the role of faith in receiving forgiveness of sins?

Answered in 1 source

Faith is the means by which we receive God’s forgiveness through Christ's finished work.

Faith plays a crucial role in the reception of forgiveness as it is the channel through which God's grace flows to us. In Romans 10:9-10, we learn that salvation – including forgiveness – comes by confessing Jesus as Lord and believing in His resurrection. This active faith acknowledges our inability to earn forgiveness and fully relies on Christ's atoning sacrifice. Thus, it is through faith that believers are justified, signifying their acceptance of the grace offered to them through Jesus.
