What is the role of God's grace in true repentance?

Answered in 1 source

God's grace enables true repentance by opening our eyes to our sin and leading us to seek His mercy.

God's grace is indispensable in the process of true repentance. It is only by His grace that we are awakened to our sinful condition and understand our need for Him. David's heartfelt plea in Psalm 51 exemplifies how understanding the magnitude of our sin should drive us to seek God's mercy. This grace not only reveals our desperate state but also reassures us that through Christ's atoning sacrifice, there is hope for forgiveness. The Holy Spirit plays a crucial role as well, leading believers to recognize their sins and turning their hearts toward the Savior. Without God's grace, we would remain blind to our need for repentance and stuck in our sins.
