What is the role of God's purpose in our salvation?

Answered in 1 source

God's purpose secures the salvation of His elect and ensures they will never be lost (Jeremiah 32:38-40).

God's purpose is foundational to the doctrine of salvation, providing the assurance that His chosen people will ultimately be saved. Jeremiah 32:38-40 speaks of God's everlasting covenant with His people, promising that they will not depart from Him. This divine purpose guarantees that all whom the Father has given to Jesus will come to Him, as stated in John 6:37. If salvation depended on human will or effort, it would be insecure; however, because it rests on God's sovereign and unchangeable will, the elect remain secure.
