What is the significance of being God's elect?

Answered in 1 source

Being God's elect means we are chosen by Him for salvation and have a special relationship with Him.

God's elect are those whom He has chosen according to His sovereign grace for salvation. In 1 Peter 2:9, the apostle emphasizes that believers are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, and a holy nation. This election is not based on any merit of our own but is a display of God's mercy and love. Being part of the elect assures us of our identity in Christ and of our ultimate purpose: to proclaim His praises and live in light of His grace.
