What is the significance of Christ as our altar?

Answered in 1 source

Christ is our altar, representing the completion of the sacrificial system and the source of our salvation.

In Hebrews 13:10, we are reminded that we have an altar from which those who serve in the tabernacle have no right to eat. This is significant because it illustrates that Christ fulfills the Old Testament sacrificial system. He is our great High Priest and the ultimate sacrifice, having offered Himself once for all. Just as the animals were sacrificed outside the camp (Hebrews 13:11-12), Christ was crucified outside the city, taking on our sin and shame. This understanding deepens our appreciation for the gospel, as we recognize that Christ’s sacrifice is complete and final, and through Him, we approach God confidently.
