What is the significance of Christ being our Passover?

In Christian theology, Christ is referred to as our Passover because His sacrificial death fulfills the typology of the Passover lamb in the Old Testament. When God liberated Israel from slavery in Egypt, the Passover lamb's blood was a sign of God's mercy, sparing them from judgment. Similarly, Christ’s death on the cross acts as the ultimate sacrifice, liberating believers from the bondage of sin and the condemnation of the law. This is encapsulated in Paul's declaration that 'Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us' (1 Corinthians 5:7).
