What is the significance of Jesus as our representative?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus represents believers before God, fulfilling the law on our behalf and securing our righteousness.

In sovereign grace theology, Jesus Christ serves as our representative, often referred to as our federal head. Just as Adam represented humanity in sin, Christ represents those who believe in Him, fulfilling the righteous requirements of the law (Romans 5:18-19). When He died on the cross, He bore our sins and imputed His righteousness to us, granting us acceptance before God (2 Corinthians 5:21). This representative role assures us that as He is, so are we in this world (1 John 4:17), allowing us to approach the throne of grace with confidence, knowing that our standing is secure in Him.
